If her kid can’t commit to work for the summer, then she should pay him to work around the house or similar. |

OP, as you seem he’ll bent your kid not being available, get creative. Your kid can babysit, tutor, do landscaping/ yard care in mornings or after hours, run errands, etc.
Employers don’t need the inconvenience of training someone who is never available, or won’t be. |
