People do not fret over this. My daughter played in these events. She committed to a top school and top 20 program. AS had nothing to do with her commitment or the other handful of friends who committed to great schools and programs. Do this for fun and the competition. Don’t worry about it having an impact on recruiting. |
Agree. Some top players didn’t make it (and yes, my DD did make it). But like previous posters say it’s not the deciding factor if your DD makes it to a D1 or even D3 if that’s her goal. What is does is provide a fun way to improve skills and play with girls with whom she may never have the opportunity to play with. The only thing it does for a fact is put a dent in your bank account! |
Check the previous years. These same girls have made it the last two years. |
Any more updates on how many BLC girls made it for 2027? I know at least four stars girls made it. |
AS is not a preview for Capital. A LOT of strong players did not try out from all of the teams in the DMV. |
Agree with this. I know '28s is too early to tell, but 6-7 of the top players across local clubs did not try out for AS. That said, a good group of Pride and Stars made it. |
It was more than just 6 or 7. |
This has been the historic norm for years. These events do not attract all the top players. They don’ need the politics, don’t need these events and don’t need to spend the unnecessary thousands of dollars to participate. These events promise a recruiting windfall but ask many of the best players in the area if AS impacted their commitment to a collage program and many would say no. |
Money grab, yea? |
My daughter is a 24. This tournament was the first time the college she actually committed to really came to all of her games and she did the clinic the day before and had a lot of face to face time with the coach. So, it may not help all, but it did help my daughter Also, it isn’t always about the recruiting. My youngest daughter wants to do it because she likes to compete with new girls against strong competition |
My youngest daughter tried out and said it was the first time that the Pride and Stars girls actually got along 🤣🤣🤣 |
HA - that is funny! ![]() |

Not true. The AS event attracts a lot of talented area players and has for many years. There are no “promises of a recruiting windfall.” All the top coaches are there but they won’t be watching the 27s or 26s - only the 25s. AS helped my kid (a top D1 commit) because it gave coaches interested in her a final look before Sept 1 during her recruiting year. No one (other than you it seems) believes this event proclaims to have magical powers in getting kids recruited. The job of every player who wants to get recruited is to go where the coaches are. This is the last opportunity before the deadline where they have the chance to do just that. For a 27 or 26 I’d say it isn’t important, unless money isn’t a problem and you want to do it for the experience. But for 25s, this event could absolutely help some kids who want to leave one last impression before the dead period. I’m guessing your DD either didn’t try out for AS because you thought it was wired for Capital, or did try out and didn’t make the team. Either way, you weren’t there, so you have no idea just how many top coaches were roaming around at this event. |
I signed my daughter up (2027) just so she could play with and against the top players in the area that are her age?!? Not even thinking about recruiting at this point. Just a few days at the beach with some other good players. Should be fun! |
