Agree. That was intended just for our community.

There are offenders that violate the traffic rules and they should be dealt with. Most people park in legal spots. I’m not sure how you can be angry about someone parking legally.

Actually,GDS families are not supposed to park in legal neighborhood spots either. It’s in the BZA. It’s even on page 2 of the transportation brochure.

I mean, it’s kind of expected when you live in the city that things are gonna be busy bustling and crowded. It’s just part of city life.

Most communities understood this and the schools business model and waived the caps given the crazy situation. Any business owner or operator gets it. This is a lasting effect of the govt shutting down schools in DC for almost two years. These schools had to operated in crisis mode with tons of local govt uncertainty for two years.

So much for “community understanding” or prioritizing effective education.

No waiver would be needed now if the GDS community had abided by its side of the agreement. Public schools are all operating normally. Kids can go back.

Given the huge lacks of courts, fields and indoor pools in the area, this is needed for community and athletic development. Thank you GdS.

Who is ranting on about after school drivers and evening things - what does anc want? No one to drive by a house or park on wisconsin or river or whatever “just because.” From 6am to midnight? Sounds like they have a different definition of community indeed.

They want to not have their driveways blocked, to not have cars going way above the speed limit as they whiz down 42nd street and let’s not forget they want GDS to keep its words for all pick ups and drop offs to be on campus. GDS families- you caused this

I live in this area. You're an idiot. This doesn't happen and you know it. lol.

Gds parents are mostly driving on major roads - there are fewer ins and outs to the campus than used to go to the rat infested Safeway and car dealerships, and I’m not sure what the neighbors would like in the space - another vape shop or bank? Look 4 blocks north to friendship heights - tons of vacant space that nobody wants to build on.

Op- finally made it back. This thread has spiralled out of control. Our blinders are off. Sounds like if we want a school that actually cares about social justice we need to look elsewhere.

Just horrible group of people who don’t care about our neighborhood and that during the day. We just want to get in and out without honking at people to move their cars. Such entitled a-holes. Never should have moved into such a crowded area.

Sounds like city living isn't your vibe.

Where are the legal spots?

Not being argumentative at all—where does it say that about parking in the brochure you linked to? Thx!

I find it funny that residents of this overwhelmingly UMC and white neighborhood who chose to buy overpriced houses in a congested city area with several existing schools are up in arms about a little more traffic at one of the school’s start and end times. Give me a break. Especially when there are far more illegally stopped and parked cars of parents dropping their kids off at Janney.

Colleges do not care about gds's agreement with the anc. Not even remotely on their mind when considering admitting a gds student.

It’s funnier that GDS can’t adhere to the enrollment cap and GDS families can’t adhere to the transportation management plan. Why is that?

Meanwhile my family in other states pushed for ALL schools to reopen quickly and they even volunteer substitute taught at public and private schools. That’s community.

They are overcapacity this school year due to COVID?

I just can’t get my arms around it either. Do the students there apply each and every year? Or did the spike in Covid acceptees sign up for 4-13 years of schooling there….

I don’t get your confusion. It was probably the same as what happened at other private schools. More people who were offered admission enrolled than schools expected during Covid. Yields were unexpectedly up across the board.

LOL. Janney is a free for all. Amazing that kids aren't run over every day there. Crazy. Crazy.
