How do we know? What were/are the three finalist?

Not at today's meeting.

Why the change in date? What’s the new date?

IDK. Just saying the topic is not on today's agenda.

So how does someone know it's 3 finalists?

This timeline seemed pretty ambitious to begin with so not surprised they are pushing it back, but seems like implementation of a new curriculum by the 2023-2024 school year will also be challenging.

I’m a teacher and our principal told us like a month ago Benchmark is definitely gone for next year. I’m sure we’ll hear the new curriculum soon (she says she doesn’t know what it is yet herself).

Does anyone know why this wasn't announced yesterday? Teachers have already had to sign up for training and decisions have been made

How can they make decisions before the BOE has approved a new contract?

Was there even a committee of stakeholders that got to see and review the curriculum? When will schools get the implementation plan? And what about the new SS curriculum?

MCPS makes a recommendation to the BOE, which will inevitably accept it. Since it didn’t happen yesterday, the decision has not yet been made officially. Presumably that will come later in the spring (I hope at the next BOE meeting).

Didn’t they push this topic to today’s meeting? But I don’t see it on today’s agenda either…

I don't see it on the agenda for today either. I've already signed up to do the training this summer as a teacher. It's so strange that they haven't announced which curriculum they will be adopting.

This is a bad sign. Are they sticking with Benchmark?!?!

Does anyone know what's going on with this??

Does anyone know anything else? This seems very positive to me. Benchmark is terrible, and not just in the early grades when it lacks explicit phonics instruction.

It seems like they do this every other year now and just pick another one that has a new set of issues.

Maybe something from Discovery Education or Curriculum 3.0!?!
