I bet the tour guide was a private schooler. Truth is public high school kids and families are none the wiser. They don’t know any better and don’t expect much from support staff. While private school alums have much higher expectations and a gigantic university with countless lazy do-nothing employees who treat kids like cattle is a culture shock. The handful of UVA transfers we know were private school alums and they all transferred out to private universities.
