Are you watching The Staircase on HBO Max?

What I saw suggested the scalp cuts were very different. Ratcliff's were much simpler, cleaner. Kathleen's seriously looked like a clawed animal shredded the flesh on her scalp.

Head wounds bleed a LOT so it makes sense that there was blood everywhere.

What doesn't make sense is the throat cartilage damage which the coroner said was from strangulation. I wonder if a fall - impact of that body part on a stair - can cause that damage.

The owl theory is that she went outside to do something w the Christmas lights, was attacked/scalp shredded up while outside then rushed inside and fell in stairs.

The similarity between her strange wounds and photos of owl attacks on a dog are really striking. I have no idea what happened and think there’s a good chance he did it but I think there was reasonable doubt.

If she was attacked outside, her husband and possibly neighbors would have heard her scream. Plus as another PP noted, there would have been blood from the location of the attack to the stairs.

The parallels between the two very unusual deaths proves he’s guilty (imo).

Michael Peterson was sitting near a pool fountain, which blocked out noise. Plus there was blood on the front walkway and on the outside of the front door.

Of course he did. The owl theory is bizarre and stupid.

I don’t think it’s stupid. They could never explain the strange marks on her head.

With no other forensic evidence? An attack would have meant lots of feathers not one microscopic one whose origins were never determined.

Exactly. You'd be flailing and knocking feathers out too. Lots of birds will drop feathers when stressed. It isn't a reasonable explanation.

Something just seemed fishy.

I have not watched this HBO version yet.

The “owl” theory is just weird to me.

Yeah, pretty sure there would be significant evidence if an owl had entered their home, or even attacked her near the door.

Absurd theory, no way she wouldn't have had more than one microscopic feather in her hair!

The thought is she was attacked outside and ran in apparently the feathers found were tiny ones that are located on its legs/talons. Check out photos of barres owl attack rounds-they are so similar to Kathleen person’s wounds.

If you mean a barred owl attacking, that's an absolute joke. They are actually small owls. It would have to have been a great horned owl to do that damage and it just doesn't happen.

I wonder if Kathleen had health issues, she looked kind of sick and frail in the HBO series.

It's not clear to me why Michael would want to kill either of the two ladies.

I once saw a man attacked by an owl. He was going crazy, bending over and squatting down, trying to get the owl off, but he was unable to until a very nice person who had been flying a kite came over and pushed and poked at the owl until it flew away.

More recently we had a problem with an owl who would hide in our car, getting in through a broken side vent. It got so bad we had to check around the car with a broom handle to make sure it wasn't in there. When we didn't, it would come out while we were driving. So nerve wracking.

This is absolutely not true. Where did you get this idiocy? Owls do not kill people. Owls do not attack people.

For some reason I recall she briefly went out front? And that is where the proposed owl attack would have occurred? Or they don't know she went out front and the theory is that maybe she went out front for some reason and that's how it could have happened so Michael would not have seen/heard it, and that's why she would have gone back inside and upstairs.

Yes, very much agreed. It is possible Kathleen went out front, perhaps to retrieve a favorite sweater or late-night snack from the car, and just as she was reentering the house the owl swooped down and attached itself to her scalp and began attacking her.

Then perhaps she struggled back into the house, hoping to make it upstairs to the inner sanctum of the bedroom so she could properly see the owl in a shoulder-height mirror, but only made it as far as the staircase, which she ran up and down, at least twice, trying to get the owl off her head. This would explain a lot.

oh ffs.

Agreed. Poster above is insane. Owls do not do this. They do not "attach" themselves to people.

You really shouldn’t be calling out other people for idiocy if you believe this.

I admit I went down a black hole of shame because I was curious what the people were up to in 2022 and I found Todd’s Instagram which has to be one of the most cringeworthy things I’ve ever seen.

I don’t have a strong opinion on the owl theory, aside from thinking that it isn’t as far fetched as it might first seem, and explains the variety of injuries to Kathleen much better than a blunt force attack does. Around the time of the Peterson death I had owls visit the balcony outside my bedroom on a fairly regular basis. They attacked each other and made horrible, bloodcurdling sounds that I can only liken to chimpanzees fighting to the death. I would flip on the balcony light and bang on the door to try and get them to stop with the noise, but they would then turn their attention on me and start lunging at the glass door. I would sure as hell not want to tangle with one, big or small.

This is just more bs. You people know nothing about birds, particularly owls. I do not believe for 2 seconds they'd try to attack you through the door.

Sigh. Owls don't attack humans. They may, like lots of birds, strafe someone near their nest with fledglings but that is about it. They don't latch on and cling. Who is this poster who said owls kill lots of people? I want to know more about you including your lack of education.

That looks like a barn owl and it may be reacting to its reflection in the window. It may be trying to get to the bird inside but this is not proof that owls attack people. This is just more stupidity.

You keep blindly calling people stupid for asserting that owls do attack people, even trying through glass, when you could just do a quick Google search and educate yourself.
