The one you and your mother went.

I went there and have some friends with children there currently.

No clue how they are paying for it. I sure as hell wouldn’t.

You do you.

Both get you to the same place, one will have more money when they arrive.

I’ll drive the Audi, pay $80k per year per kid, and still have more money.
No need to worry about us.

But you will never have class.

Stop the threadjack with your ridiculous car posts.

I feel the same way about mediocre private high schools as I do about mediocre private colleges.

In my experience, kids at privates can work hard in addition to playing hard and are more polished/sophisticated

If I can pay for my kid to go to a college a tier above where he'd get in needing financial aid, and not end up in jail? Worth it to me.

All of them unless we had double our income.

Yes. I saw this coming a few years ago and decided to keep freelancing, so I can write off expenditures rather than do more steady employment.
Told DH not to apply for a promotion for a few years! Keeps us under 150k, and DD offered coa of 29-39k at some great schools. The system is so complicated.

NP...oh no, beware that your comment is going to lead to criticism and advice from DCUM financial planning "experts".

luckily, our first child is probably headed for state school, so not quite as painful.

Which school would you NOT pay full price for?

My list:
Northeastern
U Miami
George Washington

I would argue that each of these schools is unique due to their cities, and worth paying 80k for some families who 1) can afford it and 2) are paying for the college experience their dc in a certain location not just the education. Of course, it is a luxury.
