There were allegedly people speaking Russian on 1/6 and the GOP has definitely worked hand in glove with Russia (allegedly also China, but they were much more behind the scenes vs the way Russia was in our faces with what they were doing to us). You’d be silly to assume that no foreign parties were involved. Let the traitorous dirtbags do the dirty work of breaking in, get whatever sensitive papers you can. And don’t forget that 1/6 woman who was trying to sell (Pelosi’s?) laptop. I think she was trying to sell it to Russia. |
I wonder; how many “ThErE hAvE bEeN nO bIg ChArGhEs” Republicans have changed their tune now that the big charges have begun to roll in. |
Well they’re not commenting here anymore so maybe they’re worried. Conspiracies like this tend to be ongoing. |
“In a memo seeking the pretrial detention of Oath Keeper Ed Vallejo — one of 11 members of the group charged last week with seditious conspiracy to violently prevent Joe Biden from taking office — prosecutors provided new details about the weapons stockpile Oath Keepers had assembled at a Comfort Inn in nearby Arlington, Va.
Three “quick reaction force” teams set up at the hotel, prepared to ferry weapons into Washington to support the effort to prevent Congress from finalizing Biden’s victory. But the cache became “unnecessary,” prosecutors said, because the Oath Keepers at the Capitol — using the force of the pro-Trump mob that stormed the building — were able to get inside without additional support. But prosecutors say the Oath Keepers were prepared for a long-haul fight, one that stretched past Jan. 6 to the inauguration. Messages exchanged by Vallejo and others suggested the group cased the Capitol on Jan. 7 and discussed plans to continue working against the transfer of power up through Biden’s inauguration. But the most salient details in the new memo describe the planning and stockpiling of weapons at the Comfort Inn. Among them, prosecutors say, were “at least three luggage carts’ worth of gun boxes, rifle cases, and suitcases filled with ammunition.” https://www.politico.com/news/2022/01/19/oath-keepers-jan-6-weapons-cache-527359?fbclid=IwAR1b2m8zOEWTBxAo2Fmpr7Vg1zTO1DJBDt3Pvek-xCBh07P2dDgYUh2PrX0 https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.azd.1285411/gov.uscourts.azd.1285411.7.0.pdf |
Not just weapons, but food, water, drones etc.
They had intended to barricade the Capitol. |
Republicans are still telling us to forget this, like it was no big deal that the leader of their party tried to overthrow the government. |
He tried to Stop the Steal, not overthrow the government. I don’t see how any of the Oath Keepers or Giuliani or President Trump himself are going to be found guilty. I know if I ended up on a jury I would never vote to indict, and I would certainly never vote to convict. I’d wait out anyone else who wanted to convict, but I’d have at least a few with me and it would be clear that no conviction was ever going to happen. |
I guess it depends how brainwashed and resistant to facts you are. If you were on a jury, you'd be presented with all the evidence that the election was not stolen, evidence that you haven't seen in your closed little bubble of right wing news. |
I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess prosecutors will make sure they don't have election conspiracy theorists on the jury. |
+1 It’s all out there. Trump absolutely did try to overthrow the government. “Stop the Steal” was just part of it. |
DC will hopefully have a better pool jurors. Better educated, and not tainted. |
What steal? The made-up one he and his operatives blithely manufactured to rile up an angry mob and intimidate lawmakers into overthrowing our democracy? That one? |
