What is the trashiest thing about your thanksgiving?

Store bought pie with Redi Whip

Everything else is home cooked but those are my trashy vices!

We get this every year and haven't seen it this year. Oh well, I guess we'll mix cranberry juice and ginger ale.

It was hard to find! I located some at Harris teeter on king street in Alexandria. I opened it last night because I was excited

Enjoy

Well coming on a fun thread to brag about how classy you are is -1000 classy points so you are down in the gutter with us now.

It was a joke…

Canned green beans? If isn’t peak trashy unless you can taste the can

I can beat that - Gravy from a packet.

NP. No way, gravy from a packet is way tastier than from a jar. And actually requires more additions and more than just reheating.

I don't think any of this stuff is "trashy" btw-- the whole thread is just classism, right? I'm not even finger-wagging, but we're just so we are on the same page, we're talking about inexpensive things, pre-made things and/or things associated with lower-income white people, right?

We’ve perfected trashy green bean casserole. We add some Velveeta to the traditional ingredients.

Fully expect my MIL to quietly judge our family’s gathering as trashy;

Multi generational dinner for 35 at my grandmother’s big house. We rented everything - tables to plates to utensils and catered dinner + dessert from two restaurants. MIL a food snob and critical. My grandma loves hosting but no longer cooks - we’re all from out of town and learned from past years that there’s no way to easily cook/serve/re heat for a crowd this size.

It mostly seems to be people talking about the traditional (“traditional”) foods that they serve to mark the holiday. If it’s classism, we’re denigrating ourselves.

Just for simplicity’s sake, I’m not serving a whole lot but I would absolutely make one of those jello dishes. They taste a little chemically now, but they’re nice to have every once in a blue. Happy Thanksgiving, all!
