Postcards from out of state encouraging me to vote

Anonymous
The handwritten postcard I received didn’t have a return address, or postmark. Just a bard code on the front. All the other letters and reminders I received, some handwritten, were from people within Virginia. None of them made mention of party or issues, just that it was important to have a plan to vote, and important to vote. That’s it.

As a person who doesn’t like either candidate, this goes in the “Con” column for McAuliffe. Are there any studies showing these things help? Because honestly it really just pisses me off to have strangers from across the country sending me these things. My vote is based on the best interest of my state, not people outside the state.

Apparently your vote is also based on whether a concerted citizen sent you a piece of mail. That’s a level of petty I just can’t even imagine.

What an odd thought. Of course anything related to voting has an effect on whether or how a person will vote. That is the intent of the postcards

I am a BOOMER, yes, who wrote postcards, did cold calling, and did canvassing. I am not your "poor dear." I don't sit at home watching the View and writing cards while sipping tea. How condescending and ignorant. I am a college professor who cares about
1. Your taxes
2. Your public education
3. Gun sense legislation
4. Your voting right
5. Your health care
6. Your democracy...very much at stake in your state.

I am also a Boomer. I am voting on the issues listed. Unlike PP, however, I live in Virginia.

Youngkin voter.

Same. With Y on all of the above, plus I’d just like these smug race baiting defund-the-police wackos to have a slice of humble pie.

I haven’t received postcards but about twenty texts in the last two weeks from out of state people telling me why I should vote for McAullife. I gave responded to them “Back to you on Nov 3.” When Youngkin winds I will be back to them with a carefully crafted message brimming with gloat and opprobrium.

There's no return address on any. These come from private individuals. You can mail it to the abyss, my friend. No one cares.

So you are sending postcards from “no one cares.” That sounds — futile. Why do it?

You know all of the tv/mail/internet ads are financed by people outside of your community, right? Are you as mad at them too?

Are you kidding? Those are insanely annoying!!! I actually grew up in Iowa, hating political ads is my birthright.

Great - then a handwritten postcard from an individual from another state would logically be less upsetting that the fact that big corporations pump money into Super PACs to send you ads/mail/flyers, etc on how to vote in your community, no?

At least I understand the corporation’s profit motive. I find the faux altruism of postcard writers more grating. It’s not your business, so keep out.

They need something to talk about at their knitting circle before the third glass of wine.

So far today, I received three texts from Democrats telling me where to vote. One had a Virginia Beach area code, and I politely suggested she focus her efforts in that area and mentioned that only 40 people showed at the McAuliffe rally in Norfolk.

She responded that If Youngkin won, he would outlaw abortion and children would die from Covid.

Seriously.

Ah, this poster is a liar. No one gives their personal info on the postcard in order to "respond." Just ignore these idiots.

Check your reading. Pp got texts, not postcards.

Also didn't happen. Imagine obtaining thousands of Virginia's email accounts. Do you know how to find email addresses of voters? No. There's no way to do that and people often have several and/or dead accounts. I do polling, and this is not a thing.

This person is lying and lying and lying. Also, this person is stupid enough to vote against his/her own benefit. Yup- Trump is still thriving in this dumb state.

I've received at least twenty-five spam texts this cycle from Dems and I'm not even a Dem. A-holes.

The Environmental Voter Project is the number one offender this time around.

It is a mid-term election. The most important thing is turnout, so yes, there are proven statistics that if asked personally (a hand-written postcard), you might actually go out and vote. And since the future of our country depends on it, please vote!

The country? These are midterms.
