Valor coaches were asking 2008 rec boys to come practice this winter (for free, I assume). Don't know about 2007 but -if they already have 4 or 5 teams in 2007, how many more kids do they need? That's crazy.

They sent out mass emails to kids from CYA rec and SYA rec all star teams last week basically begging them to come practice with their teams for free. Given the performance of their lower teams, the rec All Star teams were probably stronger!

My kid was on an all star team this fall and we didn’t get an email. Maybe it was only for older age groups? Mine is young still. We do get emails about the pre travel academy but that’s it.

That is called recruiting.

My kid switched over to Herndon, much better experience for Pre Travel

Five teams in a full-field age group for travel....I'm amazed there are actually any kids LEFT on the rec side to recruit.

Seriously, people. Why does anyone care how many teams Valor has in an age group, except Valor? How many does Arlington have, or Loudoun? Neighbor’s kid plays for Valor. One of the 07 teams was made up of a lot of 08s. The club is trying to help the kids by moving them back to their own age group and shifting the true 07s to the other 07 teams, and they were looking to add some more 08 boys. I assume from the SYA and CYA programs, which isn’t recruiting since Valor is the travel side of the two clubs. Neighbor is happy, his kid is happy, and I assume the rest of that group is happy. Not sure it should be surprising that there are groups with a lot of teams since two clubs merged last year. Both CYA and SYA had more than one team in many age groups so having a lot in several is not too shocking.

I’m don’t have a valor player, but our club has a similar issue with 2nd team parents always thinking their kid better than the 1st team players. Yes, they love posting here too!

Yo, Valor parent, many 2007 teams in the area also have 2008s on their rosters. Glad to hear they are trying to address that issue but unfortunately the Silver teams would not even be very competitive on age level. They did silver a disservice by subjecting them to the Fall schedule—they should have done SFL until rosters were appropriate.

Valor parents, curious to get some feedback on the club. We are moving clubs next season and seeking some alternatives. Valor has been suggested a few times. Look for 09 Boy player. Did I hear correctly that they are moving to ECNL-R next season?

Why are you moving clubs?

Happy to chat online here or off -- my kid is Valor 09B. We are formerly CYA.

They will be fielding teams in ECNL Regional next season. I'm definitely interested to see how the regional league will be structured with the addition of Valor, Mclean and BRYC. I'm guessing they will push Stafford to VA South.
