STA is 2/3 the size of sidwell for one and more importantly size wise percentages STA sent as many kids to Ivies and top 20. Actually STA’s college admissions was more impressive overall.

Bit defensive, STA parent?

DP. No it’s just that sta has less kids period. Facts matter. That being said sta normally has about 10 so for its relative smaller size to
Sidwell’s 130 it is about equal. Sounds like this year was off. Many maybe didn’t apply. I know several that had the scores but did not apply not just at sta but at other schools. Maybe the process was unclear?

That was my thought. Also, it’s more important, not more importantly

I don't get it. Did STA not offer the PSAT? We heard all year how superlative the school was during COVID. If they did, then there was no "process" that needed to be clear or unclear.

Blair magnet program had 47 NMSF 2022. .... on track with the 40 to 50 percent of class (n=100) for the last 20 years. Similar to RMontgomery IB program in montgomery county

So Blair teaches to the test?

... plus USAMO math team, us physics, chemistry, computer science teams, intel awards .... on and on every single year over the last 2 decades. Not one per decade for all the dc prep schools!

Blair teachers are clearly a disgrace to the profession since they simply teach to the PSAT!

.... terrible teachers at Blair doing a disservice to the studentry.

Sidwell is a different kind of student overall. Kids are not as well rounded as social as sta. Different kids. Friend at Sidwell say all their kids do is study and they have way more homework daily and over the weekend. Despite this college admissions are about the same. Remember Sidwell has 125-130 students and sta has about 80-85 max

Sidwell kids are smarter?

No just not as well rounded in my experience. Kids I know there according to their parents just study and are not as involved with athletics or outside activities. There is no sports requirement is there?

You’re obviously a bitter STA parent who doesn’t know kids at Sidwell.

Those Blair magnet high school students probably would have scored higher on PSAT and SAT tests while they were in middle school when they were focusing on the relatively elementary subject matter content of those tests. These kids are doing university level studies by the 11th grade. The kudos is due to the Middle School public school teachers for the content of the PSAT/SAT test!

Omg this is so not true. National merit finalists receive the presidential scholarship at USC which is a half tuition scholarship. You may not get money from ivies but top 30-50 isn’t out of the question

I don't get the 224. What's that on the scale to 1600?

Around 1480 I think

Can someone explain please? If 1480 was Semifinalist, I don't undertand how my son isn't on the list. He had a 1530. In Maryland.

SJC > Gonzaga. In pretty much everything these days.
