Remember when someone was questioning why all the Presidents send their kids to Sidwell? This is why.

Every year before this year the two schools were neck in neck. This year was weird given Covid. Kids could submit SAT scores. Public and charter school kids in the District were not even given the PSAT.

I don't get the 224. What's that on the scale to 1600?

Around 1480 I think

STA has been going for the athlete/scholar during admissions and while these boys are talented and often quite bright, they aren’t quite NMSF level.

Maret and WIS did very well, particularly since since smaller high schools.

Sidwell offered the PSAT on campus, so the kids didn't use the SAT route.

224 for NMSF, which is the highest in the country. A few other jurisdictions had this cut off.
208 is the national commendation score. There were 160 or so in DC.

This year (Covid) allowed kids to use an SAT score in lieu of the PSAT. You can easily convert a SAT score to the NMS index.

For DC the cut-off this year is 224 which translates to a 1480-1500 SAT. So any Sidwell kid submitting that SAT made the cut-off. Someone in their college counseling office was clearly encouraging kids to submit. Other schools (GDS, STA, School without Walls) did not.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

If the door was open for them, no doubt they took it.
