Summer SACC - how is it going?

Curious about if your child is in summer SACC, how it's going? Just trying to figure out if they are using this as a trial for potential school year SACC.

I’m curious too. I know they were offering a few sites (maybe 5 or so?) this summer.

Summer SACC aka Camp Fairfax is going. They just extended it by an additional week. There are 10 or so locations. So far so good

Rhe health dept ssid the kids were doing very very well in wearing masks. As of last werk, they hadn't had any infections.

Do they wear masks all day? On the playground? In the gym?

They wear masks when in the classroom. They do not use the playground. My child told me they are permitted to take the mask off in the gym.

You heard a rumor about the Falls Church City version of summer SACC, not the FFX County one. And that rumor was true.

Yes, SACC in Fairfax has full day camp. One of our friends has been going and says it's great. Masks and distancing are enforced, and the kids do both indoor and outdoor stuff. they've signed up for the next month.

Hope they can offer it during the year. Would be a HUGE help to families that can’t afford private daycare. Wonder if they can supervise distance learning...

We used SACC during the school year and I think our team of SACC teachers could probably make it work.

For people reading this who will inevitably respond: well, if SACC is open school should open! No. SACC is not school, it’s not run by the schools and it’s not staffed the same way. It’s just daycare for working families, but subsidized based on income. I wonder if they will be able to use empty classrooms to expand...

I don’t think we would use it, but I know there are lots of people that would and should if the alternative is not supervising their kids while they go to work.

I would absolutely use this. It would be much more affordable than, for instance, the St. James which is insanely expensive!! People are going to have to do this all year - I don't know who can shell out that kind of money.
