Summer SACC - how is it going?

We used SACC during the school year and I think our team of SACC teachers could probably make it work.

For people reading this who will inevitably respond: well, if SACC is open school should open! No. SACC is not school, it’s not run by the schools and it’s not staffed the same way. It’s just daycare for working families, but subsidized based on income. I wonder if they will be able to use empty classrooms to expand...

I don’t think we would use it, but I know there are lots of people that would and should if the alternative is not supervising their kids while they go to work.

I would absolutely use this. It would be much more affordable than, for instance, the St. James which is insanely expensive!! People are going to have to do this all year - I don't know who can shell out that kind of money.

I'm so confused by the St. James offering. The kids are in school so I don't understand how it chose the hours it choose.

Does anyone here get the email updates from Jeffrey McKay? At the bottom it said that the county is planning to have some sort of modified SACC in the fall, with smaller groups. I wonder if it will be income-based as they surely won't be able to accommodate everyone who wants it. I also wonder if previous enrollment in SACC is any sort of guarantee. We were on the waitlist for our school and I was anticipating having to wait another year to get in (kid is rising 1st grader this year). The email said more info to come in early August.

SACC has added an additional week, now going through Aug 14th. Hopefully this is a good sign.

That’s great news.
