I've come to the realization that my prek4 son will be doing online learning at home. Would love to hear from teachers or other preschool parents how they're setting up their home to resemble a class. I've been looking to pinterest to get ideas, but get overwhelmed to decorate the small living room space we have.
Also, are there any educational stores in the DMV area where teachers go to decorate their preschool classroom? Or maybe I'm overthinking and theres a small list of must haves I should just get. Thanks! |
I had this exact question today. |
Also wondering the same. I'd suggest just getting things that are integral to daily learning: an alphabet chart, maybe a calendar you can use to do says of the week, stuff like that. As for other items, I have no idea. Things kiddos can use to stack, build, sort, measure, count, etc. A soft pillow or chair to read on. Flash cards if you find any that are useful, and books of course. Paper, scissors, markers, paint. Anyone else have any ideas? |
Oops, "days" of the week. Other than the charts/calendar, the other stuff I mentioned isn't decorative per se, but it does give a classroom vibe to me, and probably to your kiddo, too. |
Went into target( dollar spot) and michaels today and they have a lot of stuff for setting up school rooms and also learning aids for preschool and lower elementary |
Thank you everyone. very helpful! Guess I need to get into the stores to see what they have. |
At that age just play. Sing songs. Maybe get a few puzzles and sensory materials if you don't have them. No special decor or supplies are needed. Hang your child's art if you want. |
Dollar tree has a lot of things too for preschoolers. |
Our teachers got a lot of cool things for their rooms from Dollar Tree and Walmart. |
We’ve resisted screen time until a few weeks ago. We discovered Khan Academy for 3-4 year olds. It’s actually very good- our DD spends about 30 minutes a day on it. |
Pinterest have many good help ideas for decor and crafts.
Good luck. |
OK, this post might be deleted. However, I did not create this product. Something like this is helpful to set up some themes. You can go as crazy or as simple as you would like to.

Hahahaha as a PS/PK teacher I love this seller. I bought it when it was only $20. Love it. |
Lakeshore
Dollar Tree Target I would get sensory materials, visuals of letters/numbers, books, and ask your PS/PK teacher |
I liked this site when my kids were little.
https://www.forsmallhands.com The items are broken into subjects, so you can plan the room around centers of learning to keep yourself organized. |
