What do you think dance schools will do for fall?

Open with smaller classes and masks? Stay virtual?

Are you talking about private dance schools, or are there public dance schools in VA I don't know about?

If private, this probably belongs in the Classes, Workshops, Camps, and Playgroups forum.

Washington Ballet is going virtual through at least December

Bankruptcy is what a lot of them will be doing, I suspect.

Ours is planning to do small classes, keep students apart by marking out a circle for each dancer, and clean heavily between each session. Some parents are considering it but I just can't see my 6 year old staying inside her circle, and it seems like an unnecessary risk. I hope they don't go bankrupt...

My DD's school, a pre-pro not in DMV area, is planning for a hybrid model in order to get class sizes down to socially distance. Each pod will be one week in studio, one week zoom. Everyone will wear masks. Teachers will not touch the students but just give verbal corrections. Cleaning between classes.

Our dance school is in its second week back. Limit to 7 kids, spread out and masked. They’re doing a good job. They haven’t added younger kids back yet though.

Our studio is mixing Both virtual and in person

- 4 students per class in person. Masked entire time, (Dancers and teachers) separate doors to enter and exit. Other students participating through zoom. Extensive cleaning between classes

7 and under are all still on zoom. The older girls are signing up for slots to come in the studio if they choose too.

What happens when they are shut down again?

Don’t see how they can have cotillion.

Totally irresponsible to hold classes on studios right now. No matter how small, the deep in- and exhaling in small, poorly ventilated spaces is exactly what fuels the spread of this virus, no matter how distanced the dancers are in that room. Dodgy ethics.

Ours I think smaller classes and masks, some outdoor classes and also a virtual option. That’s what they are doing this summer.

I completely agree. We are switching to a more ethical studio.

Does anyone know what citydance will be doing? Would like to stay but will switch to Washington ballet if they don’t stay virtual.
