| DD is supposed to be starting kindergarten summer school today. I finally received a Zoom link with no other information late last week and now find out I can't login because DD does not have a MyMCPS account. Of course she doesn't have an account yet, she doesn't even have a student ID yet! No response from the teacher or summer school contact email address, no other contact info, and the school's phone goes to voice mail. Can MCPS really not anticipate these issues? |
| This may be the first in a long line of failures. These free summer school classes are a new thing in response to cover-19. I'd cut mcps some slack and have a sense of humor about it for your own mental health. |

K kids aren’t eligible at my school - are you sure she was supposed to sign up?
Our class starts at 12:15. It is 10 am and we haven’t gotten a zoom link yet, so there’s that. |
| We got our daughter's student ID number when we enrolled her in kindergarten. were you not given an ID when you enrolled your student |

OP,
I’m sorry this is your first experience of public school. We and others have been really happy with MCPS over the years. However, the pandemic makes it more likely that things may fall through the cracks. My teen and tween have had issues with their online meetings, and we now accept these will happen, and that it’s something to work around. It’s going to be fine. Take a deep breath. |
NP. I was not given one and I enrolled my kid before the pandemic. They called me about a million times asking if I wanted to enroll him in the summer program. |
That’s very odd. How did you enroll him or her for summer school without the student ID#? |
Did the op enroll using there own email address rather than the student log-in? |
Sorry: to clarify, I was not given a student ID, and he was enrolled for kindergarten before the pandemic. |
| Don't even get me started about Eureka math or the boundary study! MCPS can't do anything right!!! |
This sounds like user error. |
| OP here. I was not given an ID when I enrolled DD in kindergarten. I used my email address. She is eligible and received an email from her teacher welcoming her to class. Nobody seems to know how she is supposed to login. We will just wait for them to figure it out but it is a frustrating first experience with MCPS. |
NP here. Yeah, I get the frustration. Our elementary school is advertising a read-aloud for K-2 students periodically this summer, but then followed up saying that students needed an MCPS ID. Which kindergarteners do not have. Very frustrating. |
You still needed the ID number to register. It was a required field on the Google Form. There’s no way this child was registered for summer school without this number. |
| you can get an ID through their online enrollment |
