MCPS Summer School Fail

Dang, it has only been a couple hours and because you haven’t received a response ASAP, you are going in on MCPS? You have a long road ahead of you. Chill out

Ours are going well so far. Two classes today (one in progress). So far so good. I hope you work the kinks out, OP.

We have an inocming K and and incoming 2nd grader. The K was not offered summer courses. Our 2nd grader is in one as I write this.

Summer school this time around is largely a function of your local school, not MCPS central office, FYI. I will readily blame MCPS main office for all kinds of failings, but this one generally isn't on them. I'll spare you my list of grievances against central office.

OP here. So apparently it WAS a larger MCPS issue. MCPS took the system down allowing staff to register new students in mid-June. The system does not come back up until later today and there is no way to create a MyMCPS account for her then.

Thank you for the update, OP. So when can you get the ID?

Of course it was. And, I don't understand why MCPS can't send an email out to say that information for those registered for summer schools will be delayed. Why do they make families stress out about it? How hard is it to send an email?

I really think to some degree these issues are school specific. Our ES principal is on top of things, and we're getting information in a timely manner because teachers are getting what they need from the principal/administrators.
