| How do you think parents/players/coaches/refs did with following the COVID protocols at the tournament you were at this weekend? Did tourney staff enforce the rules? |
|
Lax splash was horrendous. Even the tournament organizers and parking attendants weren’t wearing masks. I was surprised at all the food and clothing vendors.
I was really surprised. But our team kept to ourselves and parents wore masks. But I would say less than 20 of the people and masks. |
| At Aloha up at Cedar only a handful of parents wearing masks including refs. But 99 percent of the sidelines were mask free. They did have some concessions for sale, but no team tailgating allowed. Lots of hand sanitizer stations though. Kinda nice getting all of your games done in a single stretch but tough on the kids unaccustomed to playing in the hear. |

| The whole thing is outside folks. I promise you, it's all fine. |

| I was at Impulse Lax Fest (relocated to MAYS near Salisbury) yesterday and feel like the event planners did a decent job. Tournament game play was split over three days and there didn't seem to be more than 300-400 people there spread over five fields for our 2027 play on Friday. Everyone had to hand in a signed waiver before entering and while organizers had said there would be a strict one spectator per player rule, I don't think that was enforced. Tournament staff wore masks and did walk the sidelines asking spectators to keep their masks on. Many took them off in between checks but at least the social distancing request had been made. |

I too was at Impulse and thought their protocols were just for show. The waiver submission process was ridiculous. First of all, they had young teens working the table. Very easy to blow them off. Their "stamp" process was a joke. A line on your arm from a black sharpie? Turns out you didn't even need a mark, because no one ever asked to see it when you walked past the table.
Imagine next week's MA will be the same. |
| DE turf complex seemed to do well. Most wore a mask and good job distancing. No tents of groups of teams. |
No |
+1. Some people set up tents and they had to take them down. |

I don't understand why this mask thing is so damn hard for people. Its not like you are being asked to wear WWI-era gas masks. Just a cloth covering to disrupt a good portion of the virus you might be expelling and to provide some (but not very much) protection from ambient virus. I've been using fishing gaiters. Reasonably comfortable and protects my neck from sunburn.

I heard something about only two face offs per game and no fighting for ground balls (instead the ref awards it to the nearest player).
Is that every tournament or just that particular one? |
I am really happy for you that a mask doesn't bother you. You are fortunate. I wear one religiously when Im out and about but I hate it. For me its very hot, itchy and uncomfortable. I have tried paper, mixed fabrics, all cotton and neoprene, they all suck and make me sweat and feel suffocated. I force myself to deal (wear one) but limit going anywhere because a mask makes me so miserable. Yes, wearing masks in the present circumstances is crucial but don't diminish the fact that everyone has different physical reactions to it. I will wear it at these tournaments but the minute I am away from other folks I will remove it. I think its a little silly to require a mask outside but I'm assuming the mass numbers of people does make it necessary. |
