Obeying COVID Protocols at Tournaments?

Anonymous
At Hershey, I was reminded that the DMV area is very different than some parts of PA.

It was the parents grouping, not the players.

Our team was great about staying in cars between games. There were many tents in spite of the rules. The food vendors were 50% mask, but one was bragging about how great it is he doesn't need one. We didn't eat there, obviously.

Hey, it was outside and 98 degrees. Bigger issue was all the folks stacked together in the woods, taking in shade.

Irrelevant - rules was grownups were to wear masks 100% of time outside of car. If you didn’t follow the rule, you are a douche. M&D parents, belonging to the organizer’s own club, didn’t wear masks. Many other clubs’ parents did. The parents who didn’t are either dumbasses or think they are special and rules don’t apply to them. Take your pick. Not a good reflection on Chris or M&D.

Noticed a bunch of M&D dads and players from one of their MS teams at Mid-Atlantic doing this...despite the numerous emails reminding attendees of the rules, this crew basically tailgated in the parking lot without masks. Terrible look.

The rule was masks when social distancing isn’t possible. I was there. Social distancing was plenty possible.

This is absolutely untrue that is not what the rules were at the tournament.. The rules for the MidAtlantic Summer Championship tournament were very specific and very clearly written. Masks were required at all time for adults and for players except when they were on the field playing. In addition they wanted everyone to stay socially distant, not instead of. I can list the rules for the tournament if you like it give you a link. You are either a liar or didn’t bother to read the many emails the tournament organizers sent out to parents with the rules. The M&D parents, as well as others, were on the sidelines and walking around the fields and parking lot with no masks on or even in sight. It was obnoxious.

Good thing you aren't one of my associates -- looking at what was posted below yours, it looks like you are confused as to recommend vs. require. I was also at the tournament and saw some of what you report, but not a lot. Most clubs, kids and parents were abiding by the recommendations by socially distancing or wearing a mask. Outdoors, I fail to see the benefit of a mask when you are not within 10 yards of another human.

There was not a single game played that day where individual spectators were spaced ten yards apart on the sidelines, much less six less. It was physically impossible so masks were required. You would get fired for hyperbole.

Perhaps we weren’t at the same time/venue/day. Sunday morning at Gerstell was plenty spread out, particularly on the grass field.

Saturday at Gennesse Valley. Far too many flouting the mask or 6 foot rule. And the teams from lower-income-majority-white-populations (e.g. the whiter and less educated) were the team parents who were most likely not to wear a masks. Blatant Trump-effect. It’s really pathetic that being a Republican these days means acting like a stupid, uncaring jerk. It definitely didn’t used to be that way.

Never underestimate the statement of stupid. So glad you are able to push your own stereotypes on others. I'm sorry to ask but what tournament was this?

Sometimes the truth is hard to admit, especially to yourself.

The Trump hater is on the wrong forum. Get lost pal, and get ready for Trump to surprise (again) in November.

Such lacrosse teams exist? Examples?

They don’t exist. The poster is a Trump hating racist who stumbled into the wrong forum.

After five tournies this summer between DC and Philly, I agree that most people/parents didn't social distance at games (ballpark 25% did) nor did they wear masks (90% overall didn't; I'd say 80% didn't even when not social distancing). I thought IL Invitational did the best they could in trying to enforce rules.

They do, tons of them. It doesnt say "poor" it says lower-income, aka lower income than the typical DCUM lacrosse family whose kids play at private schools and for clubs like Madlax, Capital, and DCE. Most of the MD, PA, NY and NJ clubs are very middle class and very white.
