| I would like one teacher for my 4th grader, maybe 20 kids, and a curriculum designed for online learning. Does this exist? I can live without in person if the online is really good. |
| Oops. Maybe this belongs in private schools. |
| Oak Meadow maybe? Definitely not live instruction though. |
| Check out Varsity Tutors. They will have a Replacement School and Supplement School Option this fall. |

This is what my 4th grader had in the Spring in MCPS. And the cost was included in my taxes. |
| Try classes on Outschool. Lots of interesting choices. My son is taking a Intro to Spanish class to get ready for next year. I also might sign him up for a writing class. Affordable and small groups. |
MCPS didn't give us that so it varies by school. We had 10 minutes of either reading or math and half of the was announcements and other half a video. |
PP you replied to. Wow, I hadn't realized that. MCPS just sent parents the draft proposal for the upcoming school year, and I think they've got their act together now, and virtual learning will be at least as good as what my kids experienced in the Spring (they are at Chevy Chase ES and Walter Johnson HS). |
I don’t understand how you had 10 minutes of instruction. I’m a teacher with MCPS. I teach upper elementary students and I keep them online with me for a solid hour each day. I didn’t just “debrief.” I most definitely provided instruction myself, each and every day. |
Thanks, signed up for the Open House! |
We have had good luck with both Math and Spanish on Outschool. Lots of fun creative writing courses, too. If you know someone using Outschool, their referral code will give you $20 off the first class, (and a $20 credit for a future course for the person who referred) |
My kid had a similar experience as PP. Online for about 10 minutes with direct instruction then watching videos, or ‘online field trips’. Looking for other options. Will check out Varsity tutors and already signed my kid up with PandaTree to learn Spanish. |
Np here in mcps. We did not get this. |
That is what my son had in MS |
