Georgetown is only allowing freshman and select seniors on campus

Wow, this is pretty big news. Approximately 2K undergrads allowed on campus.

Not really. this isn't very different from 1000 other universities' plans.

but nice meme.

OP, what’s your issue with this?

OP here:

I have zero issue with this. It’s actually radically different and much more conservstive when I compare it with Yale’s plan, which will allow 3 undergrad classes to be on campus in any given semester.

Every college and its situation is unique. Georgetown has very limited on-campus housing -- and not great housing at that. Lots of students with financial need can attend G-town because they get to live on campus at a discount. That's not gonna happen if they try to rent an apartment in the city

The goal with many of these plans is single bedrooms so the amount of on campus housing drives the number of students that can be on campus.

So basically all of these colleges are spreading it further into the community. It's going to backfire. It would make more sense to have all students on campus and then make a plan for sick students. Now these students will infect local residents and vice versa.

I heard Harvard is going completely online.

Harvard is bringing 40% of its undergraduates back.

I was the original pp who said that Harvard was going on line but just found out that undergraduates are coming back. Came back to correct that but I see other folks beat me to it. Sorry about that!

Colleges requiring single rooms only is security theater. These students will all be sharing bathrooms and hanging out packed like sardines in one dorm room every night.

Seems reasonable to me. Now, how to keep those bozos from massive parties in their basements.

Exactly. We live in Charlottesville and the students who stayed in town have been partying, going to bars, etc. Not all of them obviously, but enough that it's noticeable when you drive by.

Harvard is only allowing freshman to come in the fall and seniors in the spring. They will also allow a few extra who can make a good case for not being in an ideal learning environment at home but will only have up to 40% on campus. The sophomores and juniors are not coming back in 2020-21 unless they win a petition.
