Best way to advertise to gap year kids

Anonymous
Like everyone (I'm sure), we're looking for someone to help us with the three days our kids won't be in school. For the other two days, my husband is able to offer an internship (he runs a public policy consulting firm - obviously from home at the moment). Could be a good opportunity to throw into the mix of the otherwise nanny job. I've been mentioning to people I know so that it hopefully gets around by word of mouth, but are there any good places to post jobs like this? We're in NoVa.

Sounds like a bad combination. I would focus on paying someoine to care for your kids and a different person for the internship (is it paid?)

Maybe on college forums? My DS is supposed to go to college in August but if it gets cancelled he would love a gig like that.

Weird combination. It might even violate the ADA. For instance, what if there is a very-qualified student for the internship who is in a wheelchair but might not have the stamina to keep up with small children?

Plus, it seems like someone can get the internship only if they are also willing to be your family's personal servant. That just doesn't seem right.

NP. Interesting. There was a thread recently about babysitting rates and it came up that some people won’t hire non-drivers to babysit. My teen (18) has some LDs that would make it extremely difficult for them to drive a car at this point in their life.

That is such a far reach.
Also there are plenty of people with physical disabilities who can care for children.

I don’t think there are any more kids taking a gap year than normal. It’s not actually something you can do because of Covid or something.

Uh many schools are letting kids take a gap year precisely because of Covid. Do you live under a rock?

Interesting idea. Maybe advertise on neighborhood listserves

My DD would definitely be interested in a program like that. Listservers and FB would be good places to start.

Bizarre and self-serving. OP is this something you would want your future teens doing?

Why are people bashing OP?

OP here. I'm surprised by the bashing too! I could definitely just advertise for the 3 days I need the nanny, but I thought it could be a fun opportunity for someone who's postponing college. Certainly wouldn't be a prerequisite, and also the two would be separated (specific pay/schedule for the 3 days of nannying, and specific pay/schedule for the internship if they were interested in that).
