one child is amazing!!!!

I love both my children and blah blah blah, but my 3 year old is currently with my parents for the week so i only have the 1 year old and it feels like a relaxing vacation! Its so easy and calm when you can just do whatever will make the one kid happy. He's so much more delightful when I can focus on silly baby talk with him instead of my 3yos endless stream of questions. I'm so much better rested when bedtime is a short 30min instead of the 1:15 to get both kids down and I don't have the 3yos calls for water and potty in the middle of the night.

I don't mean this message to be hurtful to anyone longing for a second kid or anything, I of course appreciate what I have, I am just so delighted by what a treat this week feels like.

Whew! At first I thought your message was one kid is more amazing than the other and that would suck for the non amazing kid. Yes! enjoy the one on one time.

I’m a mom of only child and a teacher. I’m working as a summer nanny for two kids and OMG are they exhausting. It’s easier to teach my entire class of 27 kindergarteners than to take care of two kids close in age. I’m so glad I stopped at one.

Nah, not for us. We have one 3 year old and it’s really not difficult at all. She goes to preschool, we work, she’s in bed by 8pm.

Yes I agree with this! And two kids was hard until I had a third, now if I just have two it’s a dream! I think this is always the case!

I have a 4.5 and 2 and for us, it’s easier as well if we just one individually. When they are together they get super rowdy and it’s just utter chaos. I am an only child and it’s so interesting for me to compare their childhood to mine. Mine was so much quieter and not chaotic. Of course lonelier as well.

Not necessarily. My easy 3-year-old turned into an easy 10-year-old… I guess there’s still time, but so far I can’t complain at all.
