You're too late. Your DS should have been doing Kumon, mathesium a long, long time ago.

Those prior posters aren't too helpful.

My DS did not to mathnasium or mathcounts, and he abandoned Kumon in 2nd grade. He did go to Principia Tutors in McLean for a Saturday class in Sept and Oct before the Nov test. He found it helpful, and they seemed to run a good operation. And yeah, he was accepted to TJ.

You didn't really say anything different from the other posters, it is all about prepping.

My son has been getting tutored for TJ prep by krypton tutors (https://www.kryptontutors.com). They are all TJ alumni and very smart.

If you talk to them please tell them you were referred by Mohan.

Both my children are TJ Alum. Neither of them did any prep. It’s obvious that there are several students at TJ who just prepped to get in and they get a rude awakening. If your child is smart enough and has true passion, they’ll make it. Else, it’ll be better if they don’t go. Once you go to college, no one cares that you went to TJ

Not OP, but a different poster. It will be nice if someone can suggest good books to refer to for the exam. We do not have the money to send my kid to Prep classes but I feel he is bright enough to get in. Maybe some books we can get from library or used books. Thanks.

I know Sunshine academy has TJ prep, but don't how good.

Just because you don’t like the prior posters’ responses doesn’t mean they’re wrong.

New poster -

-1 Whether you believe in prepping, whether your kid did zero to prep, whether you think prepping is out of hand or corrupts the system, or not, isn’t the point. You know what OP is asking. If you are going to suggest things that are non-answers, why bother?

This is why there should be no test. Stop prepping your kids!!!

I have no kid applying to tj, however, 100% of the kids we know who applied, attended camps, had tutors, had classes or books to help them prepare.
