Thank the Lord above.
Details here: https://www2.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgportalapps/Press_Detail.aspx?Item_ID=25449 It’s not very specific, however. For example, it says playgrounds can open “with restrictions.” What restrictions? |
| Also, it says indoor and outdoor pools can open with capacity restrictions ... nothing about lap swimming. Interesting! |
| Anyone have a link to the underlying order that lays out the requirements? |
| Finally. |
"Swimming pools may open after determining the maximum number of people who may be permitted in the pool fenced-enclosure (this includes pool deck and grounds). To determine this, divide the square footage surface area of the pool by 36. This ensures 6 feet of separation between pool patrons in the water." This was written by someone who doesn't understand pools and doesn't understand math. Our community pool is roughly 25m x 50m. 1250 sq m = 13455 sq ft, divided by 36 is 374 people. That's more than would be on a crowded pool deck for an A meet. That 36 sq ft only works if everyone stays in a perfect lattice formation. Divide by 144 to leave plenty of room for moving around in your own space and you would have 94 patrons, much more reasonable if you are trying to keep separation.

I’ll take bad math so that my pool can open. |
You do realize school is over as of today. At least in MoCo. |
| Bueller Bueller Bueller???????????? |
That page doesn't make any sense. Apparently you only use the fenced-in area if you are only doing open/rec swim. If you you allow lap swimming, then you do the capacity by water surface area. Unless you only do lap swimming, in which case it's twice the number of lanes. Am I reading that right? |
| Well, it looks like Elrich caved on the pools even if it is unclear what it means - this is def more than just lap swimming. |
|
Elrich is literally spreading misinformation on Twitter. He’s telling people pools are open for lap swimming only when his own government’s regulations clearly say that’s not true.
He’s SUCH an idiot. |
He was saying we were under a stay-at-home order long after he rescinded it, too. Are his staffers not actually telling him what's in the orders he is signing? |
Probably! |
| Anyone have any idea what this might mean for summer camps, and also out of state campers? |
