In short, her parents’ money and the Karl Racine machine. It pisses me off so much that this elitist carpetbagger won the seat. She’s the new Jack arcana.
How the f#ck did WaPo give this person the endorsement? Zero service to Ward 2, no knowledge of the ward’s issues. She didn’t even vote in DC until late 2019!! https://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/news/loose-lips/article/21136934/how-did-brooke-pinto-win-the-ward-2-council-primary -Pissed off Ward 2 resident |
| Edit - she’s the new Jack Evans. |
| I don’t know anything about her, I voted for her just because I liked her name. |
with all the actual good candidates in the race, this is pretty sad. |
She had the best name. |
| She’s only 28? That’s not a good photo. |
| Decent article from Rachel Cohen. Will be interesting to see what Pinto does on the council. |
Why wasn’t any of this discussed in local media BEFORE the election? It feels like everyone was keeping a lid on this information. How could WaPo endorse her without doing a shred of background research? These are all highly problematic issues. |
| The Post is interested in candidates who genuflect to their editorial board and won’t upset the applecart. The Post is not a change oriented institution. |
| Saw on Twitter that a complaint was filed against her alleging that she accepted a massive in-kind contribution in the form of a house used as an office from her parents. If I recall correctly some of the people in the Jeffrey Thompson scandal went to jail for accepting large contributions and not reporting them. The complaint also details a lot of sketchiness about the house, which imo smells like money laundering. https://twitter.com/lauren_wolfe/status/1271822072029773824?s=21 |
What papers do you read? What this current #BLM issues has taught me is we have to do your own research, be skeptical of mainstream newspapers, there is a lot of information on local politics by excellent journalists for free on twitter!!! You gotta do the work and read all about it! IT's a disgrace, but those running against her should have also made more of a fuss! I don't live in ward 2, so don't know if they were not great candidates either but she clearly bought the vote! |
She doesn't look 28. |
|
I’m pretty mad about this, too. She’s a carpetbagger and totally out of her league.

The Post also endorsed Todd, and anyone paying attention knew that was a mistake. |
Wow this is nuts. A few of the other candidates already threw in the towel for the June 16 special election; I hope they reconsider!!! |
