Wash DC re-opening committee way off versus RoW

The DC Reopening committee is way off market on their recommendations. I wish a few large newspapers would do a story on it.

It won’t bode well for educating the children of Wash DC when they are the only jurisdiction in the country and globe that doesn’t allow gatherings over 10 people until they’re is a cure or vaccine. Outdoor protests omitted of course.

Other states, including MD and VA plan to move to groups of 50 already or during summer. Half of the country is already at that Phase of group size.

They don't care about K-12 schooling. Teachers union probably does not either. And with 50% absentee rates historically, half the students don't either.

Bowser and the Committee are in triple-diapered CYA mode doing 50 person gatherings in Phase 4 versus everywhere else in Phase 2.

It's more equitable that way. Not re-opening schools in Wash DC may close the achievement gap. Nevermind, that neighboring states allow more than 10 kids in a room, we gotta focus on equity.

Yes, and this would seem to decrease the number of contagious people considerably, AND shorten the contagion period to mainly the symptoms phase (not before, not after). Helpful news!

There are a number of states, CA, FL, TX, LA, AZ for example, that are seeing cases rise pretty dramatically since the "re-opening" around Memorial Day.

I think the country has just tacitly moved to the Herd Mentality model. The only problem with that, Sweden is an abomination from a numbers standpoint right now.

Positive cases are not the thing to watch. Hospitalizations and deaths are what is important when you have a dramatic increase in testing.

I’m not sure I buy that. The CDC has said that the spread through surface contact isn’t nearly as effective as previously thought which means that the primary transfer is person to person contact over a period of time. If the WHO is correct and it’s primarily symptomatic carriers spreading the virus then please tell me what manner of maniac is going to remain in the presence of a coughing, sneezing, feverish person for an extended period of time? I’d turn and run.
