I keep reading the rioting and looting is actually being done by white supremacists. Is this true?

I’ll admit I haven’t been to any demonstrations during all this, so I can’t really rely on firsthand experience. But I keep reading on FB and other social media that the rioting and looting is actually being done by white supremacists and aryan nation gangs. That seems implausible to me, but I keep seeing it on the internet, which makes me think it might be true. Is it?

Some is. Some is white leftists. Some is black people. There are dozens and dozens of videos on twitter you can watch to confirm.

By and large, it is not true. Antifa is much more involved than the Nazis and, of course, much is done by people involved in the broader protest. To be clear, not everyone or even most people in the protests are devolving to looting, but those that are are responding for much of the looting.

Official information on who these people are has not been shared (I’m not talking about what Trump and Barr say). They are mostly white though.

It’s chaotic and hard to know what really going on right now. I heard some white supremacists are pretending to be antifa. Who knows if that’s true.

You are correct, rioting and looting is mostly done by African Americans.

No, they are not "mostly white," though I know that's taken off like wildfire as a claim.

I don't think you can pin it down on specific groups. I think it runs the gamut. In plenty of places protesters have tried to stop vandalism and at least rebuke it when it was happening. But I also think that people who have an agenda (like Umbrella Man, whatever his agenda was) and who have experience at this are a lot better at sneaking off and disappearing the way he did.

So would it be possible? Because you’d be talking about a HUGE number of white supremacists. Way more than I ever thought there would be, given the number of cities having looting and riots. How are they so well coordinated?

It is true, for example in Athens, GA. But some are actually antifa, and some are just opportunists. Including many black opportunists.

PP here. I think it’s a mix of people looting. Not all white supremacists.

Why would ANTIFA riot and loot? That makes no sense to me. They are completely devoted to peace and human rights. Do you actually know anyone who’s a member? Do they seem like looters to you?
