Trump and whoever writes his speeches are complete morons.

I didn’t watch, but he really said that? As opposed to transGENIC mice which are crucial for research on Alzheimer’s disease among other things?

I really can’t with these idiots. And the worst part is that much of the country is too stupid to pick up on the absolute nonsense coming out of his mouth.

Yeah but if the Dems point this out it makes them look like they are against transgender mice which is an insult to their base.

Worse...pointing it out engenders "cOaSTaL eLiTE"

Apparently 75% of viewers approved of Trump’s speech? Are WE the ones in a bubble? Is the average American more hapoy with Trump than mad at him? What gives?

I would think people who watch are Trump fans to start. Who else can stand to listen to him or watch him, or even cares considering nothing he says is true?

MAGA were the only ones watching.

There's no point in watching a grown man on TV for 2 hours. Speak nothing but lies. Anyone who has been following any central media knows everything that comes out of Trump's mouth is twisted and a distortion of the truth. If any truth exists at all, it was pointless to watch

Are censure essentially useless? We can even get the entire party to show some solidarity meanwhile republicans are unbreakable right now. We are super screwed depending on these people.

All the Dems should have 1 by 1 filled in after Green was escorted out. The “we go high, when they go low” bullsh@t doesn’t work with Trump/MAGA. Their bingo paddles and stone faces were mocked. If they disrupted him enough he would have gotten seriously flustered and the Dem base would have felt like they actually were going to fight for them.

Only his fans watch but yes, we are absolutely the ones in a bubble. It’s an extreme bubble here on DCUM.

No. This makes no sense. There is no such thing as a transgender mouse because you can’t ask a mouse its gender identity. Gender identity is inherently a human thing. Even if you were to create a male mouse with female parts or vice versa, that’s not a transgender mouse. Sex and gender are not the same. This is science.

+1

The fact that it only had 75% support is shocking.

The viewership for this speech was about 60% of what the 2017 corresponding speech enjoyed. It was mostly the true adherents to Trumpism who watched.

Right but not really when you think about it. Trump really screwed a big segment of followers. Only the truly diehard cult members are left.

Kinda sounds like grasping at straws. 35 million viewers. Bigger than almost anything else ever on TV except NFL football. Hyperpartisan Dems were more likely to watch in 2017, now deeper into their “boycott Trump” cups. The point is, we keep claiming on here that independents and Republicans are aghast at Trump just like we are, but we may be mistaken about that.

This seems wrong. 35 million viewers is a huge tv event. 75% positive is a very successful speech. He basically listed what he’s done so far. And people…approved? WTF?

Last night was a major embarrassment for democrats.

+1 Truly. They were so intent on rebuffing anything Trump said or did that they lost commonsense, dignity, and decent manners.

I can't ever remember a President giving a SOTU and referring to his predecessor as "the worst President in the history of our nation ". Trump is trash as are his followers.

I remember an instance of that happening just last night. He’s not wrong. His predecessor will be hiding his own Easter eggs this spring, probably for the past several years in a row.

And I remember the democrats put the ass in the word class last night. Can’t make an effort to acknowledge a boy with cancer or someone who got into West Point. Shameful. They are radicalized and their demeanor is the opposite of winsome. They desperately need some kind of cogent leadership, or even just a chaperone of some kind. They are devoid of ideas that people can get excited about. As a conservative, it saddens me that the opposition is so incredibly weak. If they were bringing their A game and were gunning for a stronger country, we would all benefit.

Why do I find it hard to believe that you are 'saddened' by Democrats being weaker?
