A common theme among mass shooters is their misogyny. The shooter in this case, according to the NYT, "had a poor relationship with both his mother and his grandmother and that he had previously punched his older sister, kicked his grandmother and shoved an ex-girlfriend." He also reportedly used a "vulgar" term about his grandmother before shooting her in the face.

We talk a lot about guns and mental health but seem to gloss over that these shooters are always male and hate women.

He had barricaded himself in. You can’t just run in there guns blazing, there are set protocols in place that are more effective. Just running at the door would result in all the LEO being killed.

And yet kids are taught they should fight back in these situations. Give me a break.

This calls into question the effectiveness of school resource officers. Similar happened in Parkland when the SRO hid outside and refused to engage with the shooter.

I don't blame them. A pistol vs AR15 is literally brining a knife to a gun fight. Suicide mission 100%.

You don't even have to aim with an AR15. Just point and spray bullets.

I mean, JFC, they had to get parent DNA to ID those poor babies they were so shot up.

If the article I read was accurate that he was inside for 40 minutes, it's amazing he didn't go into more than one classroom killing.

PP. I don’t believe kids should be taught to fight back, I believe there should be no guns and this all wouldn’t be a problem. BecUse you’re absolutely right, children shouldn’t be expected to do things even law enforcement can’t.

Yet we waste money arming our schools like prisons instead of doing the obvious like doing licensing for guns the way cars are licensed. And holding gun manufacturers responsible by letting them be sued when they are criminally negligent. You can sue a car manufacturer but Congress gave gun manufacturers immunity from lawsuits. Talk about national priorities….l

You don't see fatherless, motherless, girls and women who feel unloved or unsupported, or women with mental health issues, ever doing something like this. Or if they do, it's incredibly and exceptionally rare. No, not all boys and men kill people or hate women. But we cannot keep ignoring the fact that this is a male-only issue (for whom everyone pays the price for).
