I have a Temperature...what happens to the DCs if my test is positive

Anonymous
I am a divorced mom (Dad out of the picture). I have been washing my hands religiously and using Clorox wipes on everything. I am worried about the infecting them and forget distance learning, I could barely get out of bed this morning. My DS is 14 so they are capable enough to make cereal, PB&J and I order takeout for dinner. But I am concerned that it will get worse or one of them will get sick and how will I take care of them. We obviously can’t bring anyone in.

OP, I am so sorry and I hope you feel better soon. Do you have any family nearby? A neighbor who can drop groceries on your porch and check on the kids? Is there anything someone can do to remotely help you?

I am sorry to hear that, OP. Hope it is not covid-19.

You should quarantine yourself in a bedroom or basement if tested positive. Don't share a bathroom unless you only got one. If that is the case, wear a mask to come out of your room, use bleach to clean everything after every use. Of course, stay away from any other part of the house except your quarter.

Also don't use central AC ... keep all the windows open in the house.

Among the families I know personally who have gotten it, some kids have caught it from parents and some have not (or at least have not had symptoms). Parents have been well enough to care for their kids, even toddlers, and none of them have needed to go to the hospital. Thinking of you1

Pls call your doctor, my local inova urgent care is doing call ahead testing outdoors. 14yo can manage if you are home. Give them app ordering access now is case you are not well. Let your emergency contact/neighbor know just in case so they can call to check up. Social distance from kids and wear mask around each other in common areas.

Keep us updated.

Our friends hung plastic shower curtains in the house and just cleaned everything constantly. Luckily mom didn’t need hospitalization, but she was bedridden for six weeks and is still using an inhaler after a trip from sofa to bathroom. She has three teen boys and they were mostly self-sufficient, but only one tried to check on her constantly from his phone.

I have a 14 yr old and he could take care of himself. I would need someone to deliver groceries if I were sick. Just have your child wipes down communal surfaces with Chlorox. If you have more than one bathroom, use one and have your kid use the other.

Tylenol only, no ibuprophren- feeds the virus.

Ask your neighbors to help with getting groceries, meal train etc. Do you have a neighborhood listserv?

This is the time to ask for help and accept help.

Aldi/shoppers via instacart, chownow is better for restaurant fees than DD\GH\UE.

We have two bathrooms and I have confined my self to my room (bathroom is attached). The kids belt questions through the door.

Thank you. I got a test this morning and my kids text me regarding takeout but as a result of a special summer program last year, DS has a debit card so I’ll have him link it to a meal delivery service.
