Just got an email this a.m. that our Fairfax County Rec camp at Mt. Vernon has canceled. Assuming that means all of them are now off.
|
| Was it a June camp? I haven’t gotten any notification, and actually just registered for an additional camp yesterday. |
+1. Following. We have 2 camps still on the books in June and no cancellation email |
| What date was your camp? Crap. |
| I don’t see anything on their website. Maybe it was low enrollment? |
| All camps will be cancelled. |
| Arlington just followed |
| Where are these posted? Ugh, all summer? |

I got an email on Monday that our indoor camp at Lee Rec the week of June 22 was cancelled.
The email indicated there were other camps available. We’re also registered for an outdoor one in July. No word on that yet. |
| It looks like they’re cancelling some but not all. We just got a cancellation notice for “slimes and potions,” which presumably would have been all indoors, but not for basketball. The notice says their offerings are being streamlined. |
| Sorry, I'm the OP. Ours was a magic camp in August which was canceled. Maybe because it would be indoors? I re-read the email again and they didn't say all of them would be canceled. Apologies! I mean, maybe they all still will be canceled, but not yet. |

Hmm. I saw that Arlington did this too. The link says all camps https://parks.arlingtonva.us/programs/summer-camps/
It mentions contracting contractors for refunds. We booked with someone that is listed in the Arlington catalogue but I am not sure if that means it is included in the cancellation. I initially registered for them before I even knew they were in the Arlington catalogue. |
wouldn't a basketball camp also be indoors? |
Indoors or outdoors, it should be cancelled because the nature of play can not accommodate mask wearing or physical distancing. May be ok if just practicing drills and playing with own ball outdoors only. |
| Not surprised at all. I can't believe anyone actually thought that summer camp would happen. Really? |
