Ward 4 Councilmember race Todd vs. newcomer Janeese Lewis George

What do people think? Our listserv is dominated by this topic, with a few particularly ardent Todd supporters. Im not a huge fan of Todd and I like George’s endorsements, but do people think she’s too inexperienced?

Janeese will do great. It would be hard to do worse than Todd. Todd's list of accomplishments is so thin that he has to lie and/or exaggerate on his mailers.

OP here. People have praised his constituent services, but to borrow a TX phrase he is “all hat, no cattle,” IME. He often will seem to be on top of things if asked publicly in the listserv, for show, but then doesn’t follow up. I don’t understand the proliferation of Todd signs on lawns if his track record is mediocre.

I agree with previous assessment. As a constituent, I’ve had to deal with constituent services multiple times and have been really pleased by it. One time Brandon Todd himself called me to follow up on an emergency situation which was so gracious. But I’ve been disappointed by his lack of progress or clear direction on the council.

Two pretty dismal choices. Todd is little more than Bowser's lackey. George's promises to massively defund MPD are frankly terrifying. She will be worse for public safety than that dimwit Nadeau has been for her ward.

I’ve met them both. Todd strikes me as slimey and agree that I would not want to vote for Bowsers sidekick, especially after the past few months.

Janeese is earnest, but her extreme position on crime is dangerous and ignorant.

I’d never vote for her. I wish that MPD would get more aggressive with DC criminals.

It’s hard to do worse than Brandon Todd. I suspect no one will care enough to vote him out, tho. Only a federal investigation into developer cash or similar seems to get middling DC council members out.

Interesting. We live in Brightwood (very near Takoma) and I see at least 4 Janeese lawn signs for every Todd.

You're exaggerating greatly. MPD rarely stops crime. They respond after it has been committed. Ask them how many police officers they need to stop shootings. They know that's not how you do it.

Janeese is so much more knowledgeable on the issues that drive violent crime. It's not extreme to be reasonable and evidence-based.

Brandon Todd is really a Republican. In fact, I think he still is at heart although Bowser made him switch his registration.

I suggest listening to her speak on any issue. She is not inexperienced at all. She's an attorney and worked for the DC attorney general Karl Racine.

Ever ask Brandon Todd a question? He's a blank slate. Nothing but platitudes and laser focus. The only thing he has experience doing is Muriel Bowser's bidding. No thanks!

Please explain what you think it's so extreme here: https://www.janeese4dc.com/news/on-the-recent-gun-violence-in-our-community/

That looks 100x more knowledgeable than Brandon Todd's " I'm laser focused on coordinating more patrols".

Face it. Janeese gets it. Brandon Todd is way out of his league.

Where does she stand on Bowser’s giveaway to big development interests, aka the comprehensive plan amendments. If she is opposed, then she has my vote.

I’m no great fan of Todd, but Janeese’s position are crime issues are unconscionable.
