So what is not a “real DC neighborhood” in your view?

Folks who look like DC.

Don’t even engage, this guy’s a provocateur with no evidence for his claims.

If Janeese gets declared the winner, when would she actually start?

Not for a while. The general election is Tuesday November 3rd. It would be great if she could start now to inform the FY21 budget.

We've got a Democratic Socialist in Ward 4 and a rich kid that never voted in DC in Ward 2.

This ought to be a party.

Well, it should help with overcrowding in DC schools.

I’m no great fan of Todd, but Janeese’s position are crime issues are unconscionable.

Oh really? Want to try that take again now?

I hope there are a lot of people who can look at Janeese's understanding of crime and learn something with a truly open mind. She knew what was going on.

I'm so glad she's going to be our councilmember.

Still entirely unconscionable.

Is it official yet? I thought they wouldn’t have an official tally until the 10th or so.

I have lived in Ward 4 since 2012 and I voted for Janeese. I loathe the mayor and Todd is simply way too close to her. I did not know she was DSA until she won the election (I would have voted for her anyway). I think Todd has done a poor job advocating for non-drivers in Ward 4 (because he gets that signal from the mayor, who also lives in Ward 4). I have also noticed that businesses in the area (such as the 3700 block of 14th) have put Janeese signs only to have a Todd sign up to a few weeks later. Reeks of a protection racket.

Todd seems like a decent person but I simply disagreed with his policies.

What's unconscionable is putting out an anonymous add smearing your opponent as being anti-police (a pretty good platform right now, actually). If you're gonna smear your opponent, at least put your name on it.

Has she made any statement about the movement to defund police that is gaining steam nationwide? Minneapolis just announced that a veto proof majority of its council supported defunding the police. I wonder if we could ever reach that point here.

Not that I've seen. Given that Brandon Todd gets to vote on the FY21 budget, I'm not sure there's much that she can do directly. Maybe she can convince him?

Support for many of the policies covered under the “defund police” slogan was a major part of her campaign. She was attacked for holding those positions.
