When can we expect an update on DC's reopening?

May 15th is in two days.

Yesterday, DC had its lowest percentage of positive tests in a month and that percentage has been dropping for 4-5 straight days now. Nevertheless, Bowser simply will not stop with her predictions of a "surge" in cases (first it was supposed to arrive in mid-May, then June, now it's July).

In other words, it's not a question of "if" Bowser extends the stay-at-home order, but for how long. It really would not surprise me for it to be extended until Labor Day or even long. She does not have a good grasp of the situation.

November. She't totally in over her head here.

I think she'll follow whatever MoCo and NoVa do. Which I think is the correct choice anyway, but also doesn't require a lot of independent leadership.

She's not going to stop until she gets patients into that convention center. I am so distrustful of her that I wouldn't put it past her to fake cases just to put it to use.

A month ago everybody yelled at Bowser because she was planning for a May surge when all the models said the surge would be over by mid-April.

You know what happened? We had a surge in May. Now it looks looks like case #s are trending down, and hopefully it will stay that way.

Give it a rest with the Bowser-bashing. I'm not a huge fan, but she is right to be careful and plan for the worse here, and has already been proven right once.

No, we haven't. The curve was flattened in the middle of last month -- Bowser admitted this -- and the numbers have not spiked since. They're trending downward now.

Yet she's now predicting a surge in July.

What are you talking about? Case counts have been flat since the end of April. The slight increase is commensurate with testing. There has been no surge in May. Seriously, what are you talking about? This is why our country is in such a mess right now, people just straight up making stuff up.

The percentage of tests that came back positive -- which is the most important metric -- peaked on April 19 and the seven-day average has steadily ticked downward since. So no, there was no surge in May, despite what Bowser has said.

Tuesday's seven-day average was the lowest since the first week of April and marked the eighth straight day of decline.

EDIT (thought point stands): Percentage of positive tests peaked even earlier, on April 14. The seven-day average peaked on April 19 and has declined since.

There is literally no reliable metric that shows a peak in May. It happened last month.

Oh, if your friend said that then there must be a surge. Just stop.
