report about Covid-19 getting to placenta

I would think for something getting “a lot of attention” you might have a better news source than the Sun.

Yes, OP. My RE has discussed the risks with me. At this point I am undecided about whether I will go ahead with a FET.

Did you read the JAMA letter link above in the second post. That's clearly written and another indication this is a major concern. Many doctors and researchers are discussing the Yale study on Twitter. I would not dismiss this because the Sun reported it. That link is for people who may not want to read the pre-print. It clearly explains the concerns.

I wasn’t dismissing it, just noting that I would have expected a more mainstream, non-tabloid link if OP was really concerned and it was getting the attention it said it was.

It makes me cringe that Shady Grove social media is celebrating they are open and hope isn't canceled. There are serious concerns about the safety of pregnancies in this climate. The social media messaging should match what REs are counseling patients about. This isn't sunshine and rainbows.

Shady Grove has the best RE's in the world they wouldn't recommend women go forward with treatment if it wasn't safe!!!!

It doesn't sound that way based on their very public actions since February. This news is serious. If the ASRM issues guidance these for-profit clinics should follow it this time, not organize resistance to it as they did in March.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Good one.

I am torn about this because time for infertile women is not a luxury. There is no indication that a month or six will make a difference. It may be two or three years before it is “safe”. Some women can’t wait that long (and should not have to). Since women can get pregnant naturally and no one currently is saying don’t do it, it feels like people should be able to get medical help (similar to any other doctor). But I do understand this is elective and there are risks.

It just sucks to have another hurtle to getting a baby.

ASRM is recommending clinics resume care.

And the placental issues are anecdotal at this point.

This isn't a pharma study PP. You don't double blind how viruses affect people. The pathological studies linked above show the covid-19 gets to the placenta. That is obviously dangerous for pregnant women.

The for profit clinics such as Shady Grove fought against the spring ASRM guidance. The priorities were then made very clear.

It is important to disclose publicly and to prospective patients these reports that other doctors are discussing regarding risks. The ASRM mandates that disclosure as part of a switch to "measured resumption of care."
