Feds seize PPE ordered by Loudoun County for first responders

Loudoun Country reportedly ordered 30,000 N95 masks for its sheriffs deputies, fire fighters and mental health/substance abuse treatment providers, only to have FEMA intervene and divert the order to the national stockpile.

All along Trump has been resisting distributing the national stockpile to the states, saying they should figure out how to get their own PPE. Virginians are doing that, and then the feds all but steal it from them? What the heck?

Well, Virginia now understands how Massachusetts feels. Hopefully this will help turn Virginia from purple to completely blue in November.

FEMA put out only a generally statement that didn’t even address their specific complaint. If Loudoun County goes through FEMA’s process, their complaint will probably be buried no matter how valid, so Loudoun’s only recourse is to make the issue public.

Unless and until FEMA provides a specific response to this, I’m inclined to believe the county. This kind of nonsense is straight out of the Trump playbook.

The Massachusetts Governor used the private plane owned by the Patriots to get stuff in from China because their earlier order was confiscated by the feds at port. He did the same damn thing in California. Apparently, he won't even let the company donate it but want to seize it himself so that he can be the one to decide who he distribute it to. I am going to guess it goes to one of his support red states.

A number of the major medical centers with international arms are figuring out how to import PPE they purchase abroad through the foreign subsidiaries in order to avoid having it seized by the federal government. No one trusts that Trump will distribute it appropriately, especially to blue states.
