Loudoun Country reportedly ordered 30,000 N95 masks for its sheriffs deputies, fire fighters and mental health/substance abuse treatment providers, only to have FEMA intervene and divert the order to the national stockpile. All along Trump has been resisting distributing the national stockpile to the states, saying they should figure out how to get their own PPE. Virginians are doing that, and then the feds all but steal it from them? What the heck? https://www.fox5dc.com/news/loudoun-county-says-federal-government-canceled-ppe-order
It looks like FEMA has denied this story and told the county and State how to address a complaint if they feel this has happened. I would say that it is on Loudon County to prove this. Not just leak a story about should have, would have, could have.
The Loudoun County Administrator put out specific information about the incident and it was discussed at this week’s board of supervisors meeting. That’s not a leak, it’s a public statement. FEMA put out only a generally statement that didn’t even address their specific complaint. If Loudoun County goes through FEMA’s process, their complaint will probably be buried no matter how valid, so Loudoun’s only recourse is to make the issue public. This should not even be a story without and invoice and a bill of lading from the supplier. Simple as that. Until Loudon County provides the bill of sale and the bill of lading stating that the shipping company has received the goods, this is on Louden County. I saw this story and wondered why the county attorney was not there. Chances are that they were not there because they knew that they did not have a legal leg to stand on. This story sounds like sour grapes. Unless and until FEMA provides a specific response to this, I’m inclined to believe the county. This kind of nonsense is straight out of the Trump playbook.

Why? I dislike many running things but has there been a documented case where things have been seized? I’ve seen several claims but if it’s wide spread like many are saying then I’m inclined there would be a stronger example by now.
TONS of examples of this in this thread here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/869909.page Larry Hogan has the Maryland State Police guarding the test kits he got from South Korea to keep this from happening. The Massachusetts Governor used the private plane owned by the Patriots to get stuff in from China because their earlier order was confiscated by the feds at port. It’s happened over and over and over again.
A number of the major medical centers with international arms are figuring out how to import PPE they purchase abroad through the foreign subsidiaries in order to avoid having it seized by the federal government. No one trusts that Trump will distribute it appropriately, especially to blue states.
