If your kids' school reopens, will you send them?

I mean this fall, not somehow May or June.

Would you homeschool until some level of transmission leveling? Or for the entire 2020-21 school year?

How the hell are people supposed to do this while working?

Too soon to tell.

This. It is completely unsustainable for 2 income families. If my 4 y/o can't go to preschool I will hire a nanny. I guess I'd have to hire a tutor for an older kid. It's ridiculous to expect people to work when there is no school or daycare.

Yes, I will absolutely send him. I have to work.

Not sure yet. It's going to depend on 1. How things go after the first couple phases of reopening (this is probably the biggest determining factor) 2. Whether schools enact any meaningful measures to curtail spread and 3. Whether the country manages to increase availability of testing and contact tracing.

Yes, of course. My kids are high school and college age.

And I definitely have't been "homeschooling" during this. Most of my kids are in math classes that are a much higher level than I ever achieved anyway.

Yes, I would send them (MS and HS). Not even a question.

Yes it is the law

No it's not. You're legally permitted to home school.

No, if we don't have and the vaccine is coming.

I will send them. I’ll be in school teaching so I can’t homeschool, nor am I now. They are completing what their teachers give them. I am not qualified to teach their levels and don’t have the patience for elementary school lessons.

I was worried about going back a week ago. Now all of us are at the breaking point. We want to get out of this house. I’d rather be teaching your teens all day than trying to homeschool. I’m a better mom that way.

You mean only if you're confident the vaccine is coming, or no matter what, not until you get a vaccine?

I don’t know yet. That’s a decision I’ll make when the time comes. 3 months is a lifetime in the middle of a pandemic.

Definitely yes. I am not good at enforcing homeschool and they need the structure. They have fallen behind the past few months.
