Starting Up Again - What is your club saying?

Anonymous
I thought I would start a post about what clubs are saying officially, and unofficially, concerning starting back up, tryouts, and leagues.

If you know what your club is saying about restarting please post it. Also please include a date (approximate is okay) that your club provided or sent out the information as obviously things change as new information becomes available. If the information is “informal”, i.e. “our coach said they are hoping ....” that’s fine too just indicate that.

The dates are up to the Governor. All clubs are doing are making plans on a sliding scale of possibilities. Take anything a club is saying with a grain of salt.

I think we can expect that each State will have their own rules in play. Some may well be consistent. Others not. Can a league like the ECNL arrange games that cross borders? Doubtful.

But, let us know what you’re club is saying - if anything.

SYC says they are announcing their coaching slate on May 15th. That seems premature seeing as VA is under a stay-at-home order until June 10th!

VDA announced coaching slate 2 weeks ago. VDA virtual town hall on Thursday at 6:30pm to discuss the 2020-21 programming, selection process, coaching staff, and more.

It's for 2020-2021, and they are registering players in conjunction with the announcement, like other clubs.

Lots of clubs pushing out coaching slates. But with SYC, you already know it will be kick-and-run all the way...

How is it premature to announce their coaching slate?

Not what we are being told. We heard practices will start June 10. That is the fact of what we were told. My supposition is that this is in response to public complaints about non-refunded fees. There has to be some attempt at activity to justify the keeping of monies. No one will be required to participate, but it could give the club an out. Tough spot for everyone to be in. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

No word on fall season, offers, payments due, etc. yet. The May soft reopening of some of the economy will be informative as to what happens in June and beyond. If significant spikes, we are all back in lockdown again ... if not, then slowly inch back to normalcy.
