Starting Up Again - What is your club saying?

Yes. We are with Barca Academy and that is what we heard as well. However, and as they indicated, it is all dependent on the trajectory of the virus and if they ease the restrictions we see spikes again.

FWIW, VA governor may allow for 50 person gatherings in a few weeks. That would mean fewer teams at the field practicing and parents not allowed anywhere near---must stay in cars or drop off and pick up later.

For Clubs with only a team or 2 at a field it might not make a difference. But, many big clubs have many teams at facilities at the same time, especially the Clubs with 5 or so teams per age group.

Not sure I would jump to the conclusion that if the Governor allows 50 person gatherings that that means teams can practice. From what I’ve read, it’s 50 people, with social distancing, with sanitizing and hand washing, etc... I think the professional leagues will set the standards for returning to play. Look to phase 3 for sports. EDP won’t be playing this summer regardless of how much they want to (so they can keep your money)...

I think contact sports are a phase 3 kind of thing too. Tennis, gold, hiking, running, bicycling--ok, but I can't imagine public health professionals struggling to decide what is essential / non-essential are going to rate youth club sports very high on the list of things that need to be restarted right away.

I watched Gov. Northam's press conference yesterday. I think it's fair to say that he's NOT leaning forward on the question of re-opening. Not offering comment on whether I agree--just stating what I perceived.

Oh, also...got an email from our youngest's club that FFX Co. is considering extending the park and field closure to 30 June, even if Gov. Northam's order expires on 10 June (or sooner). You know...to be EXTRA SURE.

They put out this plan weeks and weeks ago. Their scheduling options, dependent on when/if states ease restrictions and its healty and safe to do so. Almost every league out there has some sort of contingency plan like this. Would be stupid not to. It doesnt mean they are moving forward with it.

Yeah. We get it. We have seen many posts from you. See earlier posts on the categories of people who don’t want travel soccer to resume anytime soon and seem to be rooting for the worst outcomes.

YHGTBSM...I’m waiting every day to get my kids back on the pitch, dumb@ss. And I’ll be freakin furious if the state begins to reopen and ffx co parks remain closed. Just passing what the club said. You know, information. It really isn’t about you.

Lots of clubs pushing out coaching slates. But with SYC, you already know it will be kick-and-run all the way...

Sorry your kid is not in the Blue team...

BRYC is saying that this current season has not been canceled so they are waiting to decide on refunds. I am positive the tournaments I paid extra for are canceled. So I am sure they will now ask me to pay for next year without knowing about team placement, coaching or any sort of plan.

Fair enough. Apologies. I thought you were recommending it. If you don’t like what they are doing about the parks, you don’t want to hear what the FCPS Superintendent said last night about school this fall. If the kids aren’t full time in school, no way they are going back to sports.
