| I was wondering. Traffic for is way up for a Saturday, almost feels like closer to normal levels today in Northwest DC. More people are clearly getting out and about. |
|
No. Definitely not been lifted.
May 15tgh now. https://coronavirus.dc.gov/release/mayor-bowser-extends-public-health-emergency-stay-home-order-and-closure-non-essential |

lol what?
NO |
| Isn’t DC’s daily death number still rising ? |
Yes. People are idiots. I get it, I’m going stir crazy too but people need to stay home. |
|
Nice weather + the flyover.
People may have driven to get a view, but looks like people were being responsible |
| Might as well be. Ya'll keep showing up at the mall to watch jets fly by and flooding farmers markets with no mask. |
+1. Not technically, but people are definitely loosening up. |
Not so. Families were sitting next to each other on picnic blankets at the National Cathedral, with little social distancing going on. |
| People are saying on social media that most of the people on the mall for the flyover appeared to be from MD and VA, based on car plates. |
That logic is horrible. My friends who live in DC and went to the mall don’t even have cars and were close enough to walk. Of COURSE the cars parked around the mall are going to belong to people who had to drive to get there. It’s indicative of nothing. |
PP. I see what you mean, but most people in DC don't live close enough to walk. I think license plates are a decent indication of where many people were traveling from. I live in DC, and I'll tell you that people are observing social distancing in my NW neighborhood. More people than not are wearing masks when going for walks, jogging, bike rides. People are crossing the street or going into the street to avoid passersby, and there is no sign of groups congregating. Based on threads here, it seems that many in MD and VA (especially VA) are not adhering to social distancing. There is also data to suggest that DC is doing much better than MD and VA in terms of adherence to social distancing: https://www.unacast.com/covid19/social-distancing-scoreboard?view=state&fips=51 and that Republicans (more in MD and especially VA) are also more likely to want to quickly return to normal activity when social distancing ends: "Party affiliation was the clearest indicator of who might immediately return to normal after social distancing ends. Almost a third (31 percent) of Republicans told Gallup they would immediately return to normal activity, while just 19 percent of independents and 11 percent of Democrats said they would do the same." https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2020/4/14/21220511/most-americans-wont-venture-out-social-distancing |
| We were at the National Cathedral on Saturday. Lots of people, but I didn't see anyone that looked like groups of people who weren't families together. In the neighborhood, I see plenty of people outside, but most seem to be observing the rules -- many are wearing masks, even outside, and everyone seems to be maintaining distance. |
