Do you make your elementary kids go to the optional classes?

PE, Art,music ... the curriculum posted online looks pretty good, but the zoom classes...

I have not for my 3rd header. Also curious what others are doing.

We don't have any, just videos. Mine would go.

Music, yes, because it's her passion. I'm not sure about the others.

Nope. Math and literacy is all I can manage right now.

Btw, a PP who is not doing then. We don’t have actual classes. Just posted lessons and Zoom office hours.

My son didn't want to. He thought it would be real school work. How do you know if you haven't even clicked in them. So I told him he might be missing something interesting. He clicked on it today and found one of the posts very interesting and called us over to see.

Looked at all the assignments except for foreign language (different platform).
PE is a JOKE, I mean honestly 2 multiply choice test for PE in ES?
Music DC refused to do and I let it slide. DC is taking Zoom piano lessons privately, so I dont really care.
Art's first assignment was obnoxious in terms of time involved and interest and we didnt bother. This week's assignment is much better and DC has submitted it.

Nope.

We even skip the mandatory Zoom sometimes.

I make my kid do the work, but the Zooms are less than ideal.

FWIW, I have a second grader.

I do not. She does an online piano lesson once a week and practices every day for 5-10 mins.
I do art projects I find on Pinterest or she just draws.
Yesterday I taped some contact paper down for her and she spent about an hour looking for leaves, petals, a feather etc and desiging a suncatcher.
We also do Jiu Jitsu twice a week on zoom but Its really just exercises to be honest. We hike about twice a week and go for bike rides.
I think ive got " specials" covered.

Literally the only classes we are doing are the Math classes and im not even sure how long we will keep doing those. Opted out of reading/literacy and just do our own. ( 2nd grader)

No. But may chid is attending all the literature/math, which he says 99% of the other kids attend too. This is an elementary CES. It seems like about half the kids don't do most of the work, but we are all over my kid to complete it, as it takes max 1 hour per day and he is going to be in a world of hurt in the MS magnet if he doesn't develop some work ethic and good habits.

Our school doesn't have special classes for ART, PE, Music and Media but the teachers all put assignments up. It's really hard to keep up with as they all post randomly throughout the week. We try to keep up but it would be nice if they were a bit more coordinated in when the assignments come out. None of the assignments have been too complicated but it's a bear to map out when the assignments are due. They also all post in different places, some in google classroom and some in mymcps. For elementary school, it's a bit ridiculous.
