I am wondering if all this staying inside and sanitizer everywhere is going to be a problem.
My youngest has food allergies and I am convinced it was because I was too clean and kept her inside because she was a winter baby. I always said if I knew then what I knew now I would have taken her out more and been less anxious about sanitizer etc. Didn’t help that she was born in the h1n1 year. First child was born in summer and she was out everywhere and I think I was too young to over think which seems to be a problem with me now. Anyway my gut is we are becoming the world in the plastic bubble. What is the remedy? I don’t know but feel like some of these scientist need to address how to protect from Covid and protect from weakening immune systems. I predict many more food allergy diagnosis in next few years. |
My 1 yo is still licking everything inside the house and crawling on the floor so I'm not worried. I give her peanut butter every once in a while.
It'll be a very interesting natural experiment although I don't think a few months will have a huge effect. |
We are going a little crazy with the lysol... |
it's not too late. let you kids out and you go out and hope for the best. sounds smart? |
No. First, it hasn’t even been 7 weeks. A small blip even in the lifetime of a child other than a newborn. Second, not all of us are staying indoors. We live in the suburbs and walk outside every single day. Third, not all of us are going crazy sanitizing everything. If you are, maybe rethink your strategy. |
This. |
I am thinking the issue is this seems to have no end. This isn’t just 7 weeks and we go normal. I am hearing for many more months. Let’s be honest. What is the plan? We are being told to constantly clean and use sanitizer etc. Just staying in house and not being super clean in house is not enough. I am not trying to start a fight-just a conversation. We have not been out since March 13 except for once a week to grocery.
We are rule followers but are we creating a problem for future? I don’t know but I am starting to wonder since the reality is we have zero treatment. What is the best idea? Any scientist want to weigh in. FYI also food diversity is just one small piece of allergy puzzle. |
My summer baby was outside every single day.
My winter baby was never outside for months. My summer baby developed numerous allergies- food, environmental and year round ‘seasonal’ allergies. My winter baby has no allergies. Why is your house so clean? Lol. We use Clorox wipes and Lysol only when we go to the grocery store, to wipe down the groceries before we bring them in the house. Other that that our house, after this many weeks of us all being home, is a mess. And why are you not even taking that baby out on walks? Now is a great time to expose them to DMV allergy season. |
My house has never been dirtier because we're working full time and juggling childcare and I don't use my cleaning service anymore.
Lol. |
Having pets in the home when kids are little correlates to stronger immune systems.
Just saying |
Go op. Do what you need to do with your family and build that immunity. Though reinfection and immunity hasn’t been proven. You can certainly try and take that risk |
So true. 7 weeks only so far. Have some self co |
It’s weird how some of you are completely unable to have a discussion of an interesting topic without saying angry and mean things like this. |
+1 same I clean toilets, sinks, kitchen counters, and run the vacuum. Dusting? Mopping? Window-washing? oh hell no |
Truth. And 1yo is eating Cheerios off the floor and digging in dirt in the back yard (which she would not likely be doing at daycare). |
