Travel convertible car seat

Anonymous
DD is almost 5.5, 43” tall, and 36lbs. She uses a 5pt/high back booster for regular travel, but I am looking for something to use in a rental car coming up. Seems like most boosters start at 40lbs - any recommendations for something that is easy to travel with?

Just buy a highback booster. Seriously.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Get the Immi go. You can take it with you on the plane! Fits in the overhead. We have used it on many trips starting at age 4.

How soon are you travelling? Any chance she'll get those 4lbs by then? If so, I'd highly recommend either the bubblebum or the mifold. Both will fit into a purse.

I looked at the Immi Go, was hoping for something a little less expensive. We do a lot of road trips and when we fly to Grandma's she has seats. But definitely considering, thank you!

Unfortunately, in the next couple weeks for DH to have a medical consult. Normally would import grandparents as babysitters, but that's not happening right now.

We had the previous one the safety go first hybrid. This is good for about 3-6 but it isn't going to be worth the money for OP as child will outgrow by size. It is a great seat.

These are not good for small kids and give a terrible belt fit. Get a Finale or another high backed harness booster as they aren't 40 pounds and that is the absolute minimum. They can submarine under the seat belt if they are that small. I tried both of those and returned both as they were terrible. Child should be in a high back booster at a minimum.

The Combi Kobuk is a great seat for smaller kids but no latch and I wouldn't travel with it. I would get a high back booster with a minimum of the crotch strap/holder not sure what you call it at that weight.

I would buy the Graco Turbobooster highback and not give it a second thought. We bought these for travel well before we transitioned the kids at home.
