I loved this name 5 years ago when I was pregnant with my first. My mom hated it, and a few other important people disliked it as well. We chose another name, and I’m pregnant again and looked back on my names list in 2015.
I still love Romy so much. I have an unusual name (Corinne) so I like that it’s unique and I just think it’s so cute. Tell me, should I do what I love or listen to others. Is it bad? |
OP, I don't particularly care for it, but so what? You like it and that's what matters. What does your DH think? That is the only opinion that you need to listen to.
Stripper name.
The lesson here is don’t discuss names with anyone except your co-parent. Unless people are major jerks, once the child is named, they shouldn’t say anything about you choice.
I think of it as a nickname for Rosemary, which I think is a sweet name.
Love it
My DD is Rosemary. We don't use Romy but imo Rosemary has a lot more options for her future- Rosemary, Rose, Rosie, Mary, Romy, Rory.
Like Romy and Michelle?
Do what you love. Also it’s a beautiful name, think of Romy Schneider
Speaking from experience, go with the name you love no matter what anyone else says (unless it rhymes or sounds really stupid with your last name). Everyone hated the name I loved all my life and chose for my daughter. I’m so so so happy I followed my heart.
Sounds like something from deep space 9
I'm French and Corinne seems very normal to me
Romy, for those European-centrics, is the name of the actress who plays the Austro-Hungarian Empress Sissi in the eponymous film. |
Oh this is why I was channeling gene rodeberry
