This is the time to move back to school year age groups

DA is dead. Clubs are reforming anyhow. Birth year groups are problematic (conflicts with other sports, fall birthday kids getting caught in dead times, off-cycle from other big sports).

It never worked well anyhow and should just be changed.

No.

It seems to me the only thing that is painful here is the change itself? Why would we change back now we went through the pain of changing in the first place?

Yes now is the time to break up every youth soccer team. Brilliant idea.

I agree. The major reason for the age change was DA soccer. That blew up and now we are stuck with the age change. My fall born younger son was bummed he couldn't play club soccer with kids in his grade. He switched to playing basketball and baseball and hasn't looked back.

I went to watch my nephew play ayso soccer in the u12 division this past fall when he was still 9 (turned 10 in Dec.) and was playing against some 6th graders. There isn't a u11 division so 4th graders born in the fall play against 6th graders. His best friend is born two weeks later in Jan and his game was right after. We watched. Him play against some 4th graders but also against 3rd graders and even some 2nd graders born in the fall in u10. How does that make sense? One 4th grader playing against 6th graders and one playing against 2nd graders.

Agreed. All of this is totally bizarroworld. All but two kids on my kids red team are in the same grade. The other two would drop a year and still be top team players. Nobody on the second or third team above would drop and be first team. My son could care less about playing with classmates or even people in his own town. I don’t think we care one way or another but it is really odd to base it on grades when so many people are screwing around with when they start their kids In first grade. If you want to even things up, make it all biobanding. If you want your kids to play with their classmates, recess is great when we go back to school.

No!!! keep it birthyear... athletes at ant age want to compete against competition not jus play with their friends.

No, a year is a year.

No thanks, one change was enough. Forcing the same kids to go through another totally unfair.

Thank you for your input, I disagree. Very hard on high school age teams, which is more serious competition.

Let them play grade year on middle school and high school teams.

Nope. Birth year was only done for DA. DA failed. Birth year didn't and doesn't work as well as school year. Time to just acknowledge that and try again.

This is the least of my family's problems at this point. Whatever.
