Surveying ex-DA parents

Wildly posting with absolutely zero evidence that your club will get into ECNL... does it help?

Have you already reached out to ECNL clubs concerning tryouts?

Will the end of DA make ECNL more competitive?

If your DD/DS doesn’t make ECNL, will they continue soccer?

Survey for current ECNL parents:

1. What will you do when your little Mia is let go in favor of an ex-DA player?

2. Given how fluid soccer is from year to year, how do you feel so confident that the current power structure will continue from now until your little Mia lands her full scholarship to UNC?

3. How confident are you that ECNL won’t “let in” ex-DA clubs in light of the extraordinary circumstances?

4. Why do you feel justified in your continued bashing of ex-DA clubs, coaches, and players?

Example answers:

1. Whimper and cry in the fetal position on my bed
2. Nothing bad can happen to my special Mia
3. It would never happen, I can just feel it.
4. Karma only works one way. Bad karma can’t attach itself to and ECNL parent and player, can it? My kid is safe on her protected roster, right???

N/A

No, but there’s plenty of time if that turns out to be the right move. She’ll make an ECNL team if she reaches out today, 7 weeks from now, or 4 months from now. Not every exDA player is in that position, but she is.

Yes

Yes. But see answer to #2.

If ECNL doesn’t accept DA teams/clubs, why can’t they join EDP instead and make that the next powerhouse?

You need to stop thinking about powerhouses. There will be no powerhouse. There’s just rec and travel now.

DA parent here - boy.

1. No answer.
2. No. To be honest - why on earth would I? On the boys side ECNL is nowehere near good enough and the MLS league will continue to play at a much higher level. I think Richmond and VDA have made a mistake joining ECNL on the boys side, and I wonder if you might not even see them reverse course at some point. Obviously I have no idea what commitments they have made and/or whether reversing course is even possible. Perhaps it is not. If they don't, then I suspect VDA will lose a handful of its best players to Arlington/DC United.
3. On the boys side - perhaps a little bit. Obviously VDA and Richmond are going to raise the level.
4. Yes of course.

Pay to play is rec. Fancy soccer lessons. Non rec is non pay by definition.
